How do ginger shots work?

Ginger contains pungent compounds such as gingerol and essential oils. Traditionally it is associated with digestion and the immune system, and many people drink their ginger shot as a warming start to the day. A ginger shot doesn't replace a balanced diet, but it is a simple way to bring ginger into your everyday life regularly.

  • Ginger: warming heat, a classic for digestion and wellbeing.
  • Orange: fruit and vitamin C, which round off the taste of the Immunity shot.
  • Turmeric and pepper: the well-known duo in the Immunity shot.
  • Guarana and mate: natural sources of caffeine in the Energy shot.

You can find more background on the ingredients in our article What's in a ginger shot. The statements are general nutritional information and do not replace medical advice.

How often should you drink ginger shots?

For most healthy adults, one shot a day is a common routine. Many drink it in the morning, others as a kick in the afternoon slump. You can drink the shot neat or dilute it with water, hot tea or juice. If you're sensitive to heat, drink it with breakfast rather than on an empty stomach.

If you'd like to try the routine, start with the 1 week shot cleanse and drink one of the three shots every day. You can read more about dosage for ginger turmeric shots in the article The ginger turmeric shot.

Make ginger shots yourself or buy them?

Making them yourself is quick: wash 200 g of fresh organic ginger and cut it into pieces, blend with the juice of 2 lemons, a little water or apple juice and a pinch of pepper, pour through a fine sieve and fill into a clean bottle. The shot keeps for a few days in the fridge.

  • Making your own: fresh and cheap, but it takes effort, the heat varies and it keeps for only a few days.
  • Buying: ready-dosed 60 ml shots, consistent recipe, to go and keeps at least 3 months unrefrigerated.

If you like it simple, pick one of our three shots in the box of 7. The sample set shots offers even more choice and variety.

Ginger turmeric shot: what's behind it?

Ginger and turmeric belong to the same plant family and go well together in taste: ginger brings the heat, turmeric the earthy note and the yellow colour. A pinch of black pepper rounds off the blend. That's exactly how our Organic Ginger Shot Immunity is built, complemented with orange for the fruity side.

We explain what turmeric brings to the shot and how best to use the ginger turmeric shot in The ginger turmeric shot.

Side effects: who are ginger shots not for?

Ginger shots are hot. In larger amounts they can cause heartburn or stomach irritation in sensitive people. So start with one shot a day and dilute it if needed.

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding women and people with gallstones or stomach conditions should check with their doctor beforehand.
  • If you take blood-thinning medication, you should also consult your doctor.
  • The Relax shot contains ashwagandha and is not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. With thyroid conditions or regular medication, please check with a doctor beforehand.
  • For children, please check with a doctor beforehand.

If you're unsure, the rule is: when in doubt, seek medical advice.

Frequently asked questions about frank. organic ginger shots

How do ginger shots work?

Ginger contains pungent compounds such as gingerol and is traditionally associated with digestion and the immune system. A ginger shot is a simple way to bring ginger into your everyday life regularly, but it doesn't replace a balanced diet.

How often should I drink a ginger shot?

For most healthy adults, one shot (60 ml) a day is a common routine, for example in the morning with breakfast. You can drink it neat or diluted.

Should I make ginger shots myself or buy them?

Homemade shots are fresh and cheap, but they take time and keep for only a few days in the fridge. Bought shots like the ones from frank. are ready-dosed, always have the same recipe and keep at least 3 months unrefrigerated.

What is the difference between a ginger shot and a ginger turmeric shot?

A ginger turmeric shot contains turmeric in addition to the ginger, often with a pinch of pepper. At frank. that's the Organic Ginger Shot Immunity with ginger, orange, turmeric and pepper.

Do ginger shots have side effects?

In larger amounts, ginger shots can cause heartburn or stomach irritation because of the heat. Pregnant and breastfeeding women and people with existing conditions or regular medication should seek medical advice beforehand. The Relax shot with ashwagandha is not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Which ginger shot is right for me?

Immunity is the hottest shot with the highest ginger content, Energy is fruity with guarana and mate, Relax is the mildest with lavender and ashwagandha. With the sample set shots you can test all three.

What makes frank. shots so high quality?

For our frank. ginger shots we use only organic ingredients in our unique recipes, which combine different ginger contents and levels of heat and also contain functional additions. We use eco-friendly glass bottles to reduce our ecological footprint.

So that you can protect the environment as much as possible, we also offer our bright, spicy Wake Up Call in a 500 ml storage bottle (made of glass, of course). That way you can enjoy up to 20 organic ginger shots from just one bottle and help us save packaging material.

What is the shelf life of frank. shots?

Our frank. Shots can be kept unrefrigerated for at least 3 months - so you don't have to consume them in a very short time and they don't take up any space in your fridge.

How should frank. shots be stored?

Unlike our juices, frank. ginger shots don't necessarily need to be chilled. You can easily store them at room temperature. For an extra freshness kick, we recommend putting the shots in the fridge shortly before you drink them.

What is the difference between our Wake Up Call shot and the Wake Up Call 500 ml bottle?

Quite simply: there is no difference. Both bottles, whether 60ml or 500ml, contain the same thing. Only the size is different, so you can choose the bottle that suits you best. For the ultimate dose of ginger, we also offer the shot with the highest ginger content, our Wake Up Call, in a 500 ml storage bottle. This guarantees you a sufficient supply of our natural, radiant yellow freshness kick.

Why does the colour of my shots vary?

Our shots are pure natural products!
They get their intense colours and aromas from the field-fresh fruit and vegetable varieties. We do not add any flavourings or colourings to the bottle. This is why the colours and flavours may vary slightly from shot to shot.

What is the difference between frank. juices & ginger shots and smoothies?

frank. juices and ginger shots are clear and contain no pieces of fruit or vegetables or bits of peel. That's because the solid parts of the plants are separated from the liquid ones, and the concentrated form of nutrients ends up in the bottle as juice. Smoothies are “creamy” because other parts of the plant, such as the peel, are processed too. This does make the fibre content of smoothies higher, but that's not the point of a fasting cleanse, which is meant to give your digestive tract a break! In addition, smoothies often contain added sugar, colourings and preservatives, and those definitely don't end up in our bottles.

Are frank. ginger shots vegan?

Yes, of course - from the cold-pressed frank. juices to the nutrient-rich ginger shots, all flavours are vegan. We use only selected fruit and vegetables! You can find the exact composition of each product in the nutritional information for the respective juice or shot.
