"Surprisingly, nothing was hard for me."
Before we went live with our Frank Juice 5:2 intermittent fasting programme, we had a small test phase that our customers could take part in. One of the testers was Mrs Turek, a 66-year-old lady who wanted to do something good for her body with intermittent fasting. We asked Mrs Turek about her experiences with intermittent fasting. Maybe the interview will inspire you, too, to do something good for yourself and your body with the 5:2 intermittent fasting programme.
Question 1: "Mrs Turek, what were your reasons for taking part in the 5:2 intermittent fasting programme?"
Mrs Turek: Because of the Covid pandemic I had been eating less healthily and always had a certain feeling of heaviness. But since I'm naturally slim, you couldn't see it on me. Still, I know myself that I ate too many sweet things.
Question 2: "And what did your intermittent fasting weeks look like?"
Mrs Turek: I actually stuck to the plan I was given. It gave me a certain security that I was getting enough vitamins. I followed the guidelines, like drinking a herbal tea every morning and avoiding alcohol and coffee. On the first day it was hard not to eat, especially in the evening, but after that it wasn't anymore.
Question 3: "How did you eat on the non-fasting days?"
Mrs Turek: I noticed that small portions and small dishes filled me up. For example, a potato with salt and pepper or broccoli with garlic was enough to make me full. Whole menus weren't needed anymore. But the day before I started the programme I still ate some cake, because I was afraid I'd get a craving for sweet things (Mrs Turek laughs).
Question 4: "Did you do any kind of exercise during the 5:2 intermittent fasting programme?"
Mrs Turek: Well, at that time I was mainly shovelling snow. And I spent a lot of time gardening. I noticed that I was much more active than usual and had more energy.
Question 5: "What changes did you notice in yourself after or during the programme?"
Mrs Turek: Well, as far as my weight goes, I can't say, since I've never owned scales in my life, but I think I lost some around my waist. I slept well during that time. Maybe that was because I went to bed earlier, afraid of getting hungry late in the evening. All in all I had a very good body feeling and lots of energy. And what surprised me a lot was that I didn't get any cravings during this time.
Question 6: "Was anything hard for you during the fasting days?"
Mrs Turek: I have to say: no. Surprisingly, nothing was hard for me.
Question 7: "And finally: what would you say is your conclusion at the end of the 5:2 intermittent fasting programme?"
Mrs Turek: It became clear to me once again that the amount of food you eat in a day is not what matters. A lot of food doesn't mean a lot of energy. Quality is what counts. Good food gives you energy. And above all I learned to eat only until I'm full and no further.
"Thank you very much, Mrs Turek, for the interview and your experiences with the 5:2 intermittent fasting programme!"
"Amazingly, nothing felt hard for me."

Mrs Turek: Because of the Covid pandemic I had been eating less healthily and always had a certain heavy, bloated feeling. But since I'm naturally more of a slim type, you couldn't tell by looking at me. But I know myself that I had been eating too many sweets.

Question 4: "Did you also do any kind of exercise during the 5:2 intermittent fasting programme?"
Mrs Turek: Well, at that time I was mainly shovelling snow. And I spent a lot of time gardening. I noticed that I was much more active than usual and had more energy.

The 5:2 cleanse has also given me the push to try a classic juice cleanse soon.
